Glovebox for Catalysis and Organometallic Chemistry
In catalysis and organometallic chemistry, many compounds are air- and moisture-sensitive, some even pyrophoric. Weighing, setting up reactions, storage and work-up therefore have to take place under a clean protective-gas atmosphere. A used, refurbished glovebox provides safe, reproducible conditions for this – at a fraction of the new price.
Why a glovebox?
Classic Schlenk technique reaches its limits as soon as sensitive solids have to be weighed, stored or handled over longer periods. In the glovebox you work permanently under argon or nitrogen with O₂ and H₂O levels below 1 ppm – without constant inerting, with full freedom of movement and safe handling of pyrophoric substances.
What matters
- Argon atmosphere: standard for most organometallic work.
- Reliable gas purification: keeps O₂ and H₂O permanently low and regenerates automatically.
- Solvent filter (activated carbon): captures solvent vapours and protects the gas-purifier catalyst.
- Balance in the box: for precise weighing of sensitive substances.
- Antechambers: main plus mini antechamber for safe transfers.
Suitable used gloveboxes
Brand-name gloveboxes with integrated gas purification are proven here, in particular from MBraun. For an overview of current stock, see our range. What to look for when buying used is explained in the guide.
